Poetry

Over the last fifteen years I’ve written uncountable numbers of poems. A small percentage of these has been published. An even smaller percentage has won something. Over that time I've seen publication in poetry magazines including Envoi, Iota, Reach, The Lighthouse, Staple, Poetry Life, Agenda and nthposition. I've won the Poetry Life National Competition and been named BBC Wildlife Poet of the Year.

Writing poetry gives me more satisfaction than any other type of writing. I would gladly see all my non-fiction books go out of print if, in exchange, I could write just one truly great poem that would stand the test of time.

Greatness, though, is not really the point – and neither is publication. Who knows if any of these will mean anything to you? Truth is the point; truth as it seems to me, and a sense of connection to something larger than myself – to The Source, if you like.

If this sounds like pretentious rubbish you should probably go back to the journalism section of this website, which has lots of Facts on it and may make you feel more comfortable. If not, you might like to dip in. I would love to know what you think of what you find.
